Now they just need to create a time machine and release it 27 years ago. Nobody is going to care. It's like adapting Flash Gordon decades after Star Wars came out.

Molly Millions was the girl. Without Molly, there's no Trinity. There's no Lisbeth Salander. There's no Motoko Kusanagi. She's a titan of fiction and for her first onscreen depiction we get fucking Temu Tessa Thompson.

It was closer to the mark when Sasha Grey played her in a radio drama in 2009

We have a full cast already. Malcolm isn't there, which is weird because I guess his Bob Marley shit is racist like you said but as I recall he was also loyal, competent, and the most moral person in the heist crew, just an all around bro from that prior less insufferable version of liberalism

The names I recognize are Mark Strong as Armitage and Dane DeHaan as Peter Rivera, which are pretty damn solid. Oh, and the French chick from Harry Potter playing the space countess. The other notable raceswap is an old Morgan Freeman looking guy as Julius Deane, which honestly would have been fine since Deane's only attributes are "elderly" and "an asshole"

I'm guessing those episode counts gotta be wrong, like there's no way they make Ashpool appear in every episode unless they've completely rewritten the story. I mean I guess they could have done that and are going for the "Even less faithful adaptation than Johnny Mnemonic" award.

Murderbot is decent but the 20min episode length is wrecking people online. Looks like they'll wrap the survey plot up (first novella) in the next episode then use the last one to setup the rest of the show with a season-ending cliffhanger.

>"You got lucky"

Wasn't like they could make it any more woke from the way it was in the books. They're making PresAux out to be kinda overly-hippie and far too carebear actually.

Neuromancer is going to be shite though.

I agree with you that Armitage and Riviera look like pretty good casts. Any word on the Finn? Pretty important character unless they change things and make WM use an avatar of its own which now that I say it they probably will do lest it get too confusing for the retard crowd.
And good point on the rasta. Besides the ganja shit (kek) as you say he was actually a good character.

I read all 3 recently, books 2-3 for the first time. They're okay and different enough to the first two but I think the first one is the best. Has the magic of the new setting and feels more like an adventure. 2-3 follow around a bunch of characters doing some not very interesting shit most of the books.
Also 2-3 have kind of abstract endings which (while not that crazy) put me off them a bit, especially 2.

I'd shill the Bridge trilogy to anybody too
This is an odd way to praise it but I sort of like how it's less outlandish than the Sprawl, Gibson created an entire second cyberpunk universe that's still futuristic science fiction but feels closer in time to us than Neuromancer's full dive VR and city sized space stations
The storyline is a little more conventional and "Hollywood" as well, almost like he wrote these hoping they'd be accessible movies

There's not many authors I'd congratulate for watering themselves down but Gibson might have needed it

Not neutral enough? He is sounding a little bit too emotional in some scenes. But then his comments in the books are from the POV of an unreliable narrator: Murderbot might think he's the distant observer but you can read that he gets too involved in some situations.

Been fun on the various forums and X. A lot of people exposing themselves as perhaps not being as gender inclusive as they like to present themselves. Lots of "I thought SecUnit was more feminine", or "Why doesn't she look more like a woman? It's how I always imagined her." Getting themselves called out for not using 'it' as the robots' pronoun too and they can't calmly discuss it when corrected - has to be turned into a mememe! screaming match.

Oh no no no no

They didn't even have to make it 'diverse' - there was multi-ethnic key characters clearly described in the story.

When can we stop this?

Removing black characters for stereotype reasons is bizarre as William Gibson was a full blown negrophile who was obsessed with depicting blacks as the most competent people in the setting.
In multiple books he wrote the black groups are the most well organised and the only self-sufficient groups around while everyone else relies on handouts from the system - total inverse of reality.

Maybe they are a stand-in for some CGI trickery. Or, that's what I hope for, at least...

I think her attire is fine, though. Book-accurate Molly would look ridiculous by modern standards, with big 80s hair, blue jeans and red cowboy boots.

>but I think the first one is the best. Has the magic of the new setting and feels more like an adventure
The second book feels like Gibson forgot what kind of world he created in the first book. It doesn't even feel futuristic anymore, instead of alt ~2030's like Neuromancer it feels like an alternate early 90's.
