I honestly don't see how anyone can REALLY blame Hot Rod for what happened. Optimus was taking 5,000 years to gun down Megatron, and didn't react at all in time when he reached for and almost aimed the pistol. Hot Rod distracting Megatron was ironically the only thing that prevented him from taking the shot, especially since Optimus wasn't able to fire in the time it took for Hot Rod to pounce. Megatron even holds Hot Rod to the side when he turns it around and takes him hostage, so Optimus totally could've still blasted him, or maybe, you know, do ANYTHING but stand there and get blasted.

I mean, it makes sense back then when the only people that watched the show are dumbass kids, and they'll just blame Hot Rod because they're retards and he has survivor's guilt, but you got people who are in their 30s now who weren't even born when the movie came out, and a lot still blame Hot Rod.

It's ironic that while the games, movies, or cartoons have been very hit-and-miss, their comic series have been mostly excellent.

I especially recommend the original IDW run before they went full retard. It's 300+ issues, contains a complete storyline, and the various arcs are usually great.

It's also the only one that focuses heavily on what actually happens AFTER the war is over.
