Which designs do you like more? I like for UFO stories the classic Grey design. Should movies do different alien types?

several things on our planet have supposedly independently evolved into crabs because they're like the ultimate life form or some shit

Every crab doesn't build space ships. This is like saying insects would be aliens because there's lots of insects. Look, there's some basic aspects of biology that you should expect from aliens

>They would breathe air, not water
Because otherwise they'd never discover fire, chemistry, etc.
>They would have dextrous appendages
To manipulate their environment and make technology
>They would be social
It's the foundation of how discoveries are passed on before a member of a species dies.

But they were supersized once. If it wasn't for the great dying, humanity has a low chance to evolve.

Humans wouldn't have evolved if a lot of things didn't happen. It could be that every other life baring planet is just a slimeball of algae and crabs, because they never got hit by an ice age or meteor at the right time.

Emulation is spotty, but it works. I tried playing R3 a while ago on the emulator, but it had weird bugs, like beams of light that were opaque.

That's a misunderstanding of what happened.

Basically, a pre-crab crustacean existed, its descendants branched and evolved in slightly different directions, but then those branching lines eventually started to all independently take on more crab-like forms. That's it.

It hasn't. It's just a fact of reality, some proto-crabs ended up evolving into more crab-like forms down different branches.

What's more interesting is the fact that "eyes" evolved multiple separate times down completely different evolutionary lines. It's why our eyes aren't like a cuttlefishes eyes, or a house flies eyes.
