How was Sheev supposed to be smart or powerful again? How did the Jedi and the CIS lose to this retard?

in disney canon he got really bored of being emperor
he thought it would be more fun than IT actually was ie bureaucracy simulator
so he let his goons do his work while he went back to doing evil occult shit in the back eventually leading to the sequel trilogy harry potter shit

in legends the rebellion was just super awesome at war and op as shit

In legends his focus was split between running the galaxy, quelling the rebellion and preparing for the yuuzon vhong which he didnt bother to tell anyone about for some reason

iirc lucas was well on his way to canonize it before he sold the franchise
one of the lost clone war seasons was supposed to have an episode where anakin meets thrawn and helps him fight a scout ship or some shit

Anything was better than just remaking the empire vs rebels for a sequel trilogy

He didn't though? His empire was destroyed by rebellion, assassination, and fate and destiny, not bad tax policies.

But YV were prophetic really, they predicted the rise of the Islamofascism and Chinese/Russian aggresion that are currently threatening our way of life, so it makes sense to retcon that Palaptine (Nixon) always knew they were coming, since that is actually something Nixon warned us about IRL.

You think Nixon predicted Sino-Russian aggression? What the fuck do you think the Cold War was about?

>The Republic never really had full control of things to begin with, it was too big to hold itself together
>But since the Republic wasn't as annoying the status quo persisted
>Enter Valorum, tries to centralize control through taxes
>Rebellion (CIS) happens
>Enter Palpatine tries to centralize control through oppression
>At first it kinda works because people are tired of war
>But eventually you get Tarkin Doctrine
>Blow up whole planets just an intimidation tactic
>Obviously backfires
>The Galaxy is also huge so plenty of space for Rebels to hide

There's a reason why the Republic was so loosely organized and had no standing armies, no outer rim taxation, etc. The Galaxy was too big for one central government. The Old Republic pretended to be one but didn't actually enforce shit outside of the Core. When they tried to enforce shit beyond the Mid Rim it caused a civil war.

Not retarded, but a consequence of Lucas' own decisions. Something like the Vong was inevitable for the story to continue after the Imperial Remant was defeated. The entire galaxy is tiny and all of it is known. There is little to nothing left to explore. They pretend like there is an unknown region but it's not true and anything coming from there would be super contrived. Therefore: any new threat needs to come from another galaxy. For it to be an actual threat and taken seriously, it needs to be immune to the force or else they just get immediately defeated. They need to be monstrous, since otherwise people will just say they're no big deal, you can negotiate with them, it's not so bad if they win, etc. They're a logical result of everything Lucas had in place already. There's no hidden big bad Sith nor powerful organizations hiding and waiting to take on the New Republic. So stop being a bitch about it.

I don't have a problem with the Yuuzon Vhong themselves. I actually like the context. It's the fact that it retcons Palpatine into a well-intentioned extremist, like God-Emperor Leto or some shit. Palpatine built the Empire as a monument to his own greed and arrogance. Nothing more. He's pure evil, the devil himself. Giving any other reason is a fundamental misunderstanding of his character. You cannot possibly tell me the guy played by Ian McDiarmid in the original and prequel trilogies was doing all that in a long ploy to save the galaxy

His defeat is entirely predicated on a classic ethical philosophical debate over redemption. He lost the debate over the soul of Anakin and with it the lynchpin behind the dark side forces was undone.

Any other outcome would mean the Empire would succeed and Sheev would have his immortality.

I disagree.
The mere fact he never mentioned it to anyone indicates that he wasn't doing it for altruistic reasons. Palpatine wanted the galaxy for himself, and any bugfuckers that wanted to take it from him would get atomised.
With that in mind, him never mentioning it makes perfect sense; he doesn't care what happens to the galaxy if he's not there to see it.

It was canon. It's partially what he kept building planet destroyers. Disney will eventually bring something like them over. I think they'll use Asoka to do it. She'll find something like the vong and flee
