The Curse of the Black Pearl is such a well written movie, only the CGI and costumes could overshadow how well the story is written.
You basically reach the original story climax at the half way point already only for the real story to go on again for another 45 minutes. So much better than even PoC 2 and 3 just because of the writing.

It is quite,I don't know, deceitful movie. It masquerades as a comedy but it really isn't. It is unironically one of the best swashbuckling movies ever made. It is extremely well written and there is solid tension.
