Too many new (cheap) hires for movies that are being given a short time to be developed.

No production schedule. CGI artists and farms need years to produce.

I don't think it's getting worse anymore, it's settled on a sad bottom of technical sophistication done incompetently and cheaply. I think if it had room to reasonably look worse it would, but there's a minimum that just can't be turned lower. Like a modern blockbuster can't look worse than Black Panther's CGI. It would almost have to be purposeful rather than just cheap, and we haven't broken through the ocean floor

people that are pioneers and create their own tools understand what needs those tools are designed to fulfill.
people that follow have inherited those great tools without having to master the basics of their subjects first
in cgi, it doesn't help that a model can be done by one person, and then handed off to 100 animators so every frame looks on model. but man, the human eye is really good at detecting unnatural movement, and people that lack the fundamentals of traditional animation or cinematography just end up producing dogshit.

The business of getting the VFX done on these major studio franchise releases now involves finding the lowest price and fastest estimates for the work, and often different VFX studios companies will handle different parts of the film leading to an inconsistent output. Add to that directors who are outdated in their approach, or just hired off of TV shows, and you have the shots called by people who don't know what VFX requires to look good. Then you have the fact that test screenings will lead to rewrites and reshoots, or reworking existing scenes in post, meaning some parts of the film look rushed because they literally were rushed. It's a race-to the bottom, badly managed piecemeal process that rushes to respond to the whims of test audiences for mass appeal. "Treat the process like art rather than big business" would solve pretty much all of these problems.

Its not. Our eyes are getting better at telling CGI is not real. It's like how you thought PS1 games looked awesome when you were a kid but now you see how shit they are
