Dialogue is fine but every action scene the gunshots and explosions are so quiet it’s ridiculous they let it go past the editing rooms.

It's not your tv's fault, it even happens in the theatres. I saw Tenet with my dad in a nice theatre and I think I only caught about 75% of the dialog, my dad probably suffered much more. We came out of the movie so confused because half of the plot we couldn't hear.
It feels like that line from that kung fu movie where they purposefully fucked with the guy as a joke. That is what movie makers are doing to watchers now for some reason. I don't really get it, all it made me do is watch less movies. Doesn't seem like a good plan in the long run but I guess when you have near infinite money you don't have to care about your customers. Still would like to trap one director in a room and force him to admit why they do it.

My theory, of which I am confident about is this:
The movies audio levels are designed for theatres where the volume will already be loud. Therefore dialogue will be normal and explosions will be really loud, which is what you want in a theater experience.
The problem is they dont adjust it for home releases.
They should offer an alternate audio track for home releases where the levels are brought to a closer range.
