In a general sense he had the right attitude, in that it's worth bending the rules to discipline some weak fuck who's going to be a liability to the unit in order to make the marine shape up. The point where he goes too far is ignoring the fact that the guy wasn't a pussy and clearly just had medical problems, which he for some reason had the doctor cover up instead of just discharging the guy.
