Is this worth watching despite being tranny shit?

Honestly yes, it's a great exploration of two fucking crazy people
I sorta think the writer/director being a tranny contributes to it because he's very emotionally honest while not being aware of how insane he is
It's not even a shitpost to say the movie can be interpreted as an adaptation of this picture

It's a fairly kino movie tbqh. I think trannies are totally insane but insane people often make nice art.

Yep. It's good. I liked it a lot for the TV show within a movie aspect. Also the director successful worked their magic onto the formerly female co-lead of the film, who now goes by Jack.

It works in spite of it, because it can easily be read about how the magic of life drains as you get older, how our lives seem nothing like we thought it would be as kids, and how the escapist fantasies of tv & film become more dangerously alluring because of it.

The World's End energy
It also spoke to me a bit too much though, the extra pathetic layer where the high water mark is so fucking low
>it literally never got better than when you were watching a shitty low budget Joss Whedon show on a saturday afternoon with your one friend who's enough of a fucktard themselves to tolerate your presence

Also lmao @ the RLM review where they both liked it but Jay actually had to explain to Mike that it was about trannies because he didn't pick up on that, and how I totally buy that because Mike's life definitely looks like the trannyless version of that

Yes it was surprisingly kino. It has a really good sense of wistful nostalgia for the past with how the kids stay up late watching their favourite TV show, and how they record it on VHS, etc. The movie was shot on actual 35mm film too, so it is legitimately kino. Martin Scorsese even said he liked it.

my name is Julie. i am a trans woman. and tonight is the first time i’ve said those words to anyone other than myself.

i first started questioning my gender identity around my sophomore year of high school. it had never crossed my mind when i was younger; i thought i was comfortable with my identity, until very gradually becoming overwhelmed with the feeling i wasn’t. looking back in hindsight, i think i had always felt uncomfortable in my own skin to some degree, but i never knew how to put a finger on it. i slowly started to realize i’d be happier as a girl, but the more confident i became in that assertion, the more scared i became of actually expressing it. so i pushed it down. i denied it. i repressed everything and continued living as a shell of myself.

The tranny shit camenout of nowhere. I one hundred percent believe it's part of that hollywood buckbreaking thing where they put black men in woman's clothes. If they couldn't get a black actor to agree, I one hundred percent believe the movie would not have been made.
Despite that, it's pretty good. The ending is the best part. The tranny shit is the worse, didn't even make sense. Felt like they just shoehorned in repressed homosexuality as a theme when the movie could have done fine without it, it had enough to say.
The MC might piss some people off, especially in the early scenes because he is a mega betalord. I didn't mind it though, the cinematography was quite good

I'm surprised so many people on this board feel the same way as I do. Despite me fundamentally disagreeing with trannydom this is one of the few films in recent years that has actually stayed in my mind. I thought the main character was a pansy faggot though, I liked him better as a kid so in a way I'm kind of rejecting the text of the film and focusing purely on aesthetics

Reading this thread is fascinating.
Every time Trannies are in a movie made by non-trannies everyone hates it. (including trannies)
When a Tranny makes a movie about how sad it would be to not be a tranny people click with "the vibes" and "the Aesthetics".

Because it’s not dishonest
We’re all only human and still able to empathize with someone’s lived experience, even if it’s different than our own
Same way one doesn’t have to be murdered to feel bad for a murder victim

I think that's the main thing that makes people reject "woke" media.
It's obvious that you're stapling a homely black woman on it for marketing reasons and that the people making it are rich and white.
But when you're scrappy and give a fuck about what you're saying your movie (that I didn't like desu) can become well liked by people who advocate for your extermination.

Yeah I’d say that’s pretty accurate. People don’t like being treated like they’re retarded and can’t see what the underlying motives are.

It's about the feeling that life isn't the way it ought to be. A fairly common feeling that encompasses gender dysphoria.

Depends how much free time you have. If you have a lot of free time, it's worth watching. Otherwise it's just a David Lynch/Satoshi Kon plot with subtext about the tranny experience and Tumblr/Euphoria aesthetics.

One of the quotes written on the high school wall near the beginning is sort of the theme of the movie and it’s really good. Trannies are mentally ill however and should not be allowed to spread their insanity to vulnerable children.

"Woke" Media made by the people wokeness claims to represent tend to be very different to media made by people who are just woke.
No black person would ever use the magical negro trope in a movie they direct, that's for white liberals.

It's very unique and interesting. It's nominally about being trans but the overall theme can be applied to a lot of things in life - it gives you real existential dread after watching

It's not the most entertaining/enjoyable movie but it's very interesting
