So are the Star Wars Legends / Expanded Universe books better then what we got with the Sequel Trilogy?

Is it better, same, or worse?

I made an in-universe chronological list of all the Star Wars Legends Media that takes place after the Battle of Endor/Episode 6.

That's my experience with the EU.

I have memories of reading various books in the Jedi Apprentice, Jedi Quest, Last of the Jedi, Jedi Prince, The Clone Wars (the ones based off the series with Ahsoka), and Galaxy of Fear series.

My elementary school library had a ton of those books.

My only experience is the Marvel Comics from the 80's.

I saw at my local comic place they do have the first two volumes of The Original Marvel Years Omnibuses. I might grab those...

It's pretty funny to me that the last surviving thing of the Legends timeline is The Old Republic MMORPG.

How is that still making enough money to let it survive?

Currently it's winding down slowly, with BioWare not even being the company in charge, but yes, for a long while the game made ridiculous money.

The irony is that it's a great Star Wars game, a fairly good single player RPG, and a horrible MMO. Thankfully you can solo 95% of the content.

The thing about the EU is that it was only some great religious devotion for a few weirdos. For most people who interacted with it, it was just a thing to take what you wanted from it. Some people liked some games. Some liked some books. Some liked some comics. But almost no one actually cared about all of it. It was just extra Star Wars stories, and you could take what you liked and dismiss the rest.

Oh cool, that’s interesting. Yeah I’m curious how BioWare still kept up with it since they’re also working on Mass Effect 4 (Unless that gets cancelled and BioWare is closed by EA).

That’s interesting. You think if they ever announced they’re closing the game, they’d release a single player version with helper NPCs for mission that require more than one player?

There was also this comic from 2019 that’s from the original Legends timeline.

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Wars_(1977)_108

It’s a sequel to one of the Marvel Star Wars comics from the 80’s. It was done for Marvel’s 80th anniversary.

No, it's been rebooted twice now, but officially it hasn't yet been cancelled.

>I imagine remakes of those games would bring them in-line with the Disney canon.

It takes 4000 years before the Disney canon. Not much it could reference. At least the existing Disney canon material refer to Revan as a man.

The OG class storylines in SWTOR are fucking kino and some of the best Star Wars material that has been written.

Particularly the:
Sith Agent class questline
Sith Warrior class questline
Trooper class questline
Jedi Knight class questline
Smuggler class questline

I haven't bothered with the expansion, it's some goofy eternal immortal Sith emperor antagonist bullshit.

But the OG game is amazing.
That's why it survives.
Sith Agent storyline is literally James Bond in the Star Wars universe. And the story has multiple endings, you can either defect to the Republic and become a double agent, side with the Imperial Intelligence Bureau, side the with Sith and destroy Imperial Intelligence to give the Sith absolute control over all the bureaucracy, keep all the secrets of the Galaxy to yourself, delete yourself from Imperial records and become a free agent (literally Batman). It's kino.
