Nolan never should've never stopped making crime movies, he doesn't have the range. The Dark Knight was his last great movie, Inception did nothing cool with the concept and was basically just a standard heist film, Dark Knight Rises was a rushed wrap up Nolan only made out of necessity, Interstellar was stupid, Dunkirk was nothing but spectacle with 0 substance, Tenet was boring garbage, Oppenheimer was overdramatic and proves my whole point. Nolan approached Oppenheimer the same as Batman, you have the suit up scene, the putting together the crew, the namedropping of known people as a big shock, and the epic music playing every scene. This Odyssey movie will be no different.

It was barely even that.. The beach felt too empty and lacking in any form of chaos. Atonement isn't perfect and the score during the Dunkirk scene is too overdramatic but it conveyed how much of a clusterfuck it was on the ground. Barely any sense this was a huge undertaking with a lack of a naval presense, planes, etc. all because his anti-CGI autisim is so strong that they only used the physical Destroyers and planes they had. His anti-CGI autism isn't impressive, it is annoying. Fincher is a much better example of a director using CGI intelligently. Nolan should have used CGI to bolster the scale of Dunkirk from the ships to the people based off of the real stuff they actually had but noooo that would be heckin CGI so we're left with everything feeling so fucking barren and calm. Even shit like smoke superimposed into the shots of the town of Dunkirk from a distance wasn't allowed. It's pathetic. Lazier, even. And of course this 'tism being bad all resulted in the Trinity Test in Oppenheimer being pathetic.
