I don't really like Cillian Murphy but I really liked Sunshine anyways, just finished watching it.
What are some similar movies I should try?

I liked Europa Report. Real slow but has the same "space journey" feel to it for a reason.

Weird. I just watched it last night. Did D+ only add it this month?
Decent enough but was the burned guy really so scary they had to effects blur him every time?

for recs:
Event Horizon
Suipernova
Voyagers

more on the drama side:
Ad Astra
High Life (A24 so consider yourself warned)
3022

Nightflyers if you don't mind a one-season series. Haven't seen the 80's movie version but I gather it's low budget.
If you're really desperate, there's another ongoing SYFY series The Ark, which is basically The 100 on a colony ship. I like it but it's probably an acquired taste.

I don't know, I watched it on a stream site because it was on my watchlist of movies /tv/ had suggested me at some point.
I'll note those down too. I think I've seen Event Horizon but don't really remember it.

Yeah, I was worried it would derail everything but I guess in the end it got back on track despite it. Really questionable premise though.
Though to be honest, the entire thing with the tilt having to sacrifice, you know, in the second part, also seemed contrived.

Oh man, that was so stupid. They really couldn't just shut down the rotating thing for an hour? As if. Also there's no way they'd try to get to the previous ship and risk their mission before it's completed. They'd complete their mission, get back to broadcast range, then tell Earth about the previous ship and it's payload still being in orbit, if it's needed.

But the Earth didn't have enough unobtainium to send another ship up there even without a payload, or was going to completely freeze before they could get another mission there, or something

Murphy said they'd mined all of Earth's resources and that there wouldn't be another mission, but I'm super sure he meant that for the payload. Fuel for another trip would be easy to make. Especially for a little shuttle that's just meant to get to the old ship and kick it into the sun.

Agree a bit but I still liked it a lot (just watched it and another unrelated film)

Also the heat of the magic nuclear fission lightning uncooks the actor, and let's be honest, by the time they got anywhere near the Sun let alone inside the outer corona, no matter what the payload was made of, they would be vaporized or at the very least pancaked or their brains bleeding out their noses.
