Bond is a relic of post WWII when Britain was still a thing. Bond / SAS as a has-been country that isn't even a world player doesn't make any sense. Bond survives on pure nostalgia of yesteryear. His character makes as much sense as Billy the Kid as a soldier in Vietnam

There is a long connection between spies/glowies and the occult. The 16th century English spy John Dee was also a magician. James Bond is largely based on John Dee. That's where the 007 code name comes from. Certain titles like "For Your Eyes Only" also were codes by John Dee.

CIA/MI6/Mossad/KGB also studied occult techniques such as remote viewing and astral projection.

007 was the code name of John Dee. He signed his letters to the queen with 007. It also is a reference to Tubal-Cain, the weapons forger in thr Bible. This is a common theme in Freemasonry. Two zeros (two balls) and seven (looks like a cain). "Two balls and a cain" as they call it. 007 = Tubal-Cain

Tubal-Cain was a descendant of Cain and he forged instruments of bronze and iron. He crafted weapons of war. James Bond being a spy of course also uses weapons.

Also the occultist Carl Jung was a spy for the British government during World War 2. He passed on German secrets to the British.
The famous Satanic magician Aliester Crowley was also a British spy and he was known as Agent 666.

Another example is Jack Parsons, the rocket engineer and Satanic occultist. He was friends with Crowley and L. Ron Hubbard, the creator of Scientology.
Parsons also commited treason and illegally gave secrets and weapons to the newly established state of Israel. (The infamous Church of Satan leader Anton Lavey also illegally provided Israel with American weapons many years later too.)
