Until they invent a sex robot that looks exactly like a prime Lillian Gish, I think I'll be sticking to the old newspaper, son.

This was actually a decent enough film, Smith carries it hard though. And while it's an awful adaption of the book, but the book would make a terrible film and it changes up so much it gets away with it by not even trying to be faithful

I would counter that Alan Tudyk (sonny) also carried it.

This movie has a ton of problems, one of which is Will Smith. It would have been preferable to get a more serious actor for the role. Shia labeouffs character should have been removed completely and the film could do without shoving a brand name at me every other scene.

The book was basically about the first robot committed murder. Instead of one robot being involved, it was several. Each robot performed an action that in itself was not murder, but as a whole was.

Will Smith was the heart of the movie. He provides a lot of soul and humour. What didn't you like? Shia was tolerable. I just realised that he was a wigger.

Neither were tolerable. If it had to be a black actor for the lead role I would say Denzel, but Keanu Reeves or Edward Norton would have been better. For Shia, he had a run of movies where he effectively played the wigger side kick, one was I robot, and the other was Constantine. I give him a pass on Constantine because at least I got to watch him die and in his characters death there was a character arc that made him more than wigger who is the cheerleader of the main character.

Will Smith is basically white and without him the movie would have had no smirk inducing moments.

Basically white doesn't mean anything, it's not about him being black. It's about his inability to sell the detective narrative that is integral to I robot for some cheap smirk inducing moments. The other actors I mentioned could have sold the detective narrative and perhaps we wouldn't have wound up with what amounts to a Michael Bay movie that was somehow directed by Alex Proyas.

Disagree. He sells it. He doesn't ask the right questions at first. But eventually he does.

You're just biased against Will Smith, IMO. He was the ideal lead actor choice for Spooner.
