I couldn't believe how good the 1st Blade was when it came out. Blade was a fuckin z list hero in a few comics basically no one paid any attention to back then and was borderline comic relief. Movie comes out with Snipes playing him, alongside Kristofferson as Whistler and it just clicked. Everything was there, the seriousness, the acting chops the script was good, visuals, everything. Thats almost magic in a bottle. Not easy to just slap together if you want a GOOD outcome.
