Explain how this isn't Tarantino's worst movie right now.

I mean, that's an extremely low bar. It's probably down there in the septic tank with all the rest of them, but really, when you're swimming in shit does it matter whether you're kissing the base or bobbing at the surface?

Death Proof is more boring and its female protagonists are way more insufferable. Pretty much the only thing it has going for it is the villain but even that's outshined by Kill Bill. I still enjoy Death Proof but it's definitely his weakest film.

Because Death Proof exists. The dialogue in that film is awful, and it features Quentin's longest cameo scene. The DVD version has additional scenes of shit dialogue, dragging it even further down.

Both movies are one giant meditation on the war between the sexes, as shown by the opening lines.
Death Proof is more simpy and self indulgent but i liked it.

I liked the way the film quality improved all the way through, it's choppy and scratched at first, then goes super clean and colourful at the end.
There's more going on than the action and dialogue

In the Japanese cut the House of Blue Leaves scene is in full color as originally intended. The MPAA forced a choice between an X rating or making the scene black and white. An X rating was essentially a kiss of death for a movie so they went with the B&W. I can't stress enough how the black and white coloring ruins the whole scene. It's an homage (or ripoff) to the arterial blood spray samurai movies from the 70s as well as Miike and Fukusaku. Neutering it by removing the color defeats the purpose.

Decided to rewatch Kill Bill and fell asleep once watching the first film and twice watching the second film

Tarantino's later filmography is aging super poorly because Basterds, Django, H8ful, and Kill Bill to a lesser extent, were all woke revenge trauma shit before it was a thing.
The exception is Once Upon a Time because he was freed from Weinstein. But that one still needs to age too. Pulp, Reservoir, and to a mildly lesser extent Jackie are his only real films that will stand the test of time. And True Romance may end up just as popular and well regarded in 20 or 50 years.
Weinstein's wining and dining took its toll and he became drunk on box office making juvenile revenge shit. Once Upon a Time works well as a hybrid of his hungry and deluded years.

He directed the first half of From Dusk Til Dawn but for some reason, probably because Grindhouse was his first mega flop, the narrative was changed to him only having directed and starred in it. Grindhouse is shit because they made a real exploitation film with Dusk rather than imitation slop.
The fact that he married into Zionism and named his first kid Leo, "the lion," is proof he sold his soul. What is Django if he supports the IDF mass murdering 100,000 brown women and children and bragging of raping Palestinian prisoners?

Not really though. Forcing the black and white turned it into an homage to the violence of Zatoichi and manga. And the movie changes color palettes like a chameleon anyway, so it's like saying the anime sequence was originally supposed to be live action which it was. The b&w also works due to the Blue Leaves setting being introduced in color, so your brain thinks back on the carnage as being in color. It's a trivial quibble. The problem with Kill Bill is the tone is too camp, the Buck and Pussy Wagon crap is cringe, Internet cringe and Reddit hasn't been kind to it, the movie has no grit or serious epic quality as a result
