The Sheriff is a korean vet who resents Rambo because he also got chewed up and spit out by the military, but he didn't turn into a crazy angry hobo not realizing rambo was a guy who had actually seen some shit and has some real trauma.

They are trying to forcefully shave him with a straight razor and he grabs it from the cop, then slices open his stomach so his guts spill out onto the floor. The Sheriff's father figure is the one who owns the hunting dogs. Rambo kills all the dogs and the handler too, which really fucks up the Sheriff.

The movie and the book are so disconnected from each other beyond the basic outline, I'm always confused by people who bring it up and try to use it to defend the movie.
