EU sucked balls. It was glorified fanfiction, merchandise designed to milk desperate nerds. Its fanbase was merely a fraction of the movie audiences. Completely irrelevant. Star Wars died when they raped the original movies with the sequels. That's what matters. Not a bunch of retarded crap 5 people total in the world have read, such as Emperor somehow returning, Luke falling to the Dark Side, and a bunch of discount Dark Elves from another galaxy, who are ackchyually immune to the Force and lightsabers, invading and killing trillions.

Mostly nothing of value was lost. They should have made a Dark Forces movie and not Rogue One. Just blend the steal the Death Star plans first mission with the rest of the plot about the dark troopers.

EU had its moments but man did they fuck over the next generation badly. It handled the OG trio mostly fine though up until dark nest. The next generation is a fucking joke though.

Not sure how to feel about it. On the one hand it would be extremely silly if the sequels had to be beholden to everything that was written in the EU. But on the other hand to just erase all of it seems over the top. I think they should have handled the EU like Lucas and just overwrite it whenever necessary, but as long as something doesn't interfere then leave it alone.
