Samwise was Tolkeinโ€™s educated upper-class take on the British working class. Heโ€™s a dumb servant, canโ€™t read maps, happy and stupid and dependable. Just wants to sit in a pub and drink beer. Heโ€™ll come with the rich and powerful people on their insane quest to meddle in world politics (e.g. world war 1) and suffer endless hardship, but itโ€™s all worth it for his lordโ€™s approval. Even if he has to do the actual heavy lifting in the end after Sir Winston gets greedy. He just eats it and eats it and then goes back home without complaining. Then at the end of his life he gets to be Duke Penistoneโ€™s gardener in Heaven.

Yes and no.
The ring curses Gollum. In so doing, it seals it's own fate. This is the point of Gandalf saying "I think he still has some purpose" or whatever it is, where mercy for the little fucker is the key to victory.

>Then suddenly, as before under the eaves of Emyn Muil, Sam saw these two rivals with other vision. A crouching shape, scarcely more than a shadow of a living thing, a creature now wholly ruined and defeated, yet filled with hideous lust and rage; and before it stood stern, untouchable now by pity, a figure robed in white, but at its breast it held a wheel of fire. Out of the fire there spoke a commanding voice.
>"Begone, and trouble me no more! If you touch me ever again, you shall be cast yourself into the Fire of Doom

This is what destroys the ring. As gollum does, in fact, touch the ring again he is invokes the curse it placed upon him itself. When he falls he takes the ring with him inadvertently and it is destroyed by it's own contempt.

Nobody possessed the strength of will to destroy the ring. Sam was humble enough to turn away from its temptations and was the only one who could willing give it up, but nobody had the will to stand at the crack of doom where the ring was made and destroy it. It was too powerful. Only by it's own machinations could it be undone.

The best part about Pippin using the Palantir is that Gandalf left Isengard without being certain about what exactly the stone was.
He meant to find out by using it which by his own admission would've been catastrophic because he wasn't yet ready to reveal himself to Sauron and would've most likely capitulated to sauron's will, possibly revealing part or all of the plan.

>shitting on frodo
Sam wouldn't be able to carry it to mount doom
>but le garden
It was still a temptation, ring literally had nothing to tempt frodo with, he only wanted to destroy the ring to save his friends, it resorted to just mentally raping him the whole journey, fogging his memories and not letting him rest, and he also was stabbed by nazgul blade that never heals
It was frodo/sam/gollum team effort, none of them would get even close without whole team
And it was stated multiple times that it is simply impossible to willingly destroy the ring, nobody in middle earth would be able to drop it down into lava, except bombadil, but it doesn't count
Also movies changed frodo, he was very smart and level headed in the books
In the book the literal god resorted to intervent so the ring could be destroyed, in the movies it made so ring destroys itself out of shortsighted desperation

True. It is something about the values of hobbits in general. I have always accepted that the ring exerted its will differently at different points in time. Becoming more domineering and imposing on frodo than it was on smeagol or bilbo.

Also, by using the Palantir, Pippin presented Sauron with the image of a halfling in a location other than that of the halfling he sought, distracting his attention from his own borders and drawing his armies to Gondor, giving Team Ringbearer the opportunity they needed to bumble and stumble into accidental success.
The moral of the story is that no force in history has greater power than the dumb luck of lazy idiots.
