Agreed. Piett is a minor character, but he's so important to the tone of the original trilogy. He's competent, professional, and subdued. He's not a fascist or an angry villain, but rather a perfectly normal man who takes his career seriously. He's even likable in his own way. So I'm glad Disney hasn't tried to retell his story.
