TRUTH NUKE: Superhero movies are always generally more successful with general audiences when the tone is grounded and they lean into the real world. The hard pivot from both the MCU and the DCEU/DCU lately towards a heightened, saturday morning cartoon-ish aesthetic contributed a great deal to their recent struggles and loss of relevance. Kids and geeks may like it, most others think it cringe.

The Dark Knight Rises was the last superhero movie that was an event everyone hurried to see. No one but malcontents and parents with children/teens go to see the MCU/DCU movies.

Is that a way of coping that more people saw the MCU movies than Dark Knight Rises?

Personally, I despise Marvel and MCU, but OP is wrong. All of Avengers movies were unrealistic and ungrounded and earned billions. Thors movies were unrealistic and not all grounded and earned a lot of money. Nolan also sucks, and his batman movies were ironically ungrounded.

Yeah but who saw the movie, gawking families of 5 in Missouri or 20-something college kids in New York?

real trvth nvke is that movie studios no longer know what the fuck they're doing in catering to audiences above the age of 10 because social media has enabled every single person to tune into their own little niche interests

What pure idiotic take. End Game which made like 2 billion dollars was really โ€œgroundedโ€

Avengers Infinity War and Endgame were literally two of the biggest movies of all time before Cameron made Avatar 2. What the fuck are you even talking about? Is this Marvel Derangement Syndrome?
