People with insecurities in physical qualities will often pursue avenues to compensate for that insecurity, yes. Lord Farquaad being short is nowhere near as bad as his need to compensate for it. Whereas Shrek learns shutting people off because he is insecure about his ugliness is wrong and Donkey likewise finds that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Farquaad until his end insists that he is not warts and all, but above others because they have flaws.
