Though I don’t subscribe to transcendental meditation personally, I’ve personally seen a number of people benefit from it. In an era where everyone has a compulsive need to be stimulated, usually by something idiotic, I think moments of quiet reflection are hugely beneficial no matter what you want to call it.

And as has been said, just because someone is a genius or highly intelligent it does not mean that they are infallible or even immune to trickery and scams.

They had facilities in Missouri too. I grew up in KC and this place was out in the middle of nowhere near a little town called Dover. They had an almost identical one on the other side of the state near another little town called Saint Genevieve. I've seen aerial photos of that one from back in the 70s and it looked like the mansion from Resident Evil.
