You really don't. It's absolutely standard shit for shonens to lack in exposition of world building, slowly building it up through supplementary media to make more buck.

the main story beats aren't that hard to follow, you don't really need to understand all the intricacies and stuff going on behind the scenes to understand the broad strokes of what's happening. you're purposefully left in the dark about some details because it's just not that important to the story the show is really trying to tell, which is a character study. if you are a nerd like me and want to know every little detail, you can read the classified info files from the psp game and that pretty much answers everything.
