But it is still good sci fi. It's about humanity being used as a camouflage for a horrifying alien bioweapon. Not in just the appearance sense like the Terminator being clad in human flesh, the tragedy of Sil is that she's a living, sentient being that just wants to survive and breed like all of us - because she is grafted from the same genetics as us - and despite of this she's basically a disease meant to exterminate us all. All of the things that make her "human" are coincidental disguises to that fact, and that's tragedy.

In order to rewrite the film to be good you need to drop the whole "It's just a dumb parasite doing dumb parasite things" or keep her as a secondary.
The real contrivance is that this was originally written as a detective thriller, that's why they barely have 3 detectives going after her ass and why the government is so incompetent at finding people despite the american government being numero uno at finding and assaulting your ass if you dare go against the american government and israel.

Concept wise? If you want this to be a proper sci-fi then you need to focus on spaceships , stargates, the alien planet, biohacking, interstellar message exchanges that fuck up your planet, a Giger world, etc.

The sex can be tertiary and like a spin-off of 9 hours worth of deleted scenes where it's just a porno with intense music and the same stupid baby birthing scene for the 20th time, but put a director+writer with some imagination to make it feel fresh each time ... all while separating it from the actual cool sci-fi stuff such as bioships and a HR Giger planet. That way people can watch both without the other tripping over each other. You know like Pulp Fiction? you know Pulp Fiction... and any other anthology stories... except we only focus on 2 stories and give them a huge amount of time, alright? It'll be a sci-fi story that hogs all the budget with its retarded sexy older sister that gets the crumbs cause honestly you don't need a lot of budget for the sex scenes... maybe for the lawyers.
