Any good accurate movies that take place here? I've only seen the one with Eminem

Documentaries on NK are kind of outdated(like the country in most places) and sadly the morbid interest in them seems to have come and gone. You kind of have to trawl through groups interested in them and travel logs to see the country, and those are all guided so you only see the cracks in the facade and not the whole picture. Everything has to be taken with a grain of salt as obviously the North Korean perspective is unreliable but our outside perspective is also limited by what we see, we can't really make a composite "accurate" portrayal when even stuff like what their daily lives are like are not something we ever see. I would advise finding the South Korean book by the guy who found a bunch of their trash washed up over decades and compiled stuff(it's an interesting examination of the country's consumer culture), and the infrequent editorials about stuff smuggled out of the country like their smartphone. Make your own impression with what you read, no film is going to be able to depict something like an entire isolated country accurately, not that such a thing is even possible

I went. Cant find my pica right now. Everyone else who went will act like a know it all but just going there doesnt reveal anything you didnt already know. The thing I learned most was how exaggerated peoplea documentaries and ahit wrre, eapecially Vices famous documentary where they acted like they had to borderline sneak in (you can, or could at least, just buy a tour like thousands of others) and they purposefully acted retarded and did things they shouldnt.

Believe it or not north koreans are not aliens but humans. You get toured around to famous places like any tour would and then you go home. Yes you are not able to freely go out on your own, you have to sray in your tour group, bus, or hotel, and some places you cant take photos. But our guides and the people we did interact with were friendly and normal.

Electricity went out (city wide) several times a day, lack of hot water in winter, lack of food, etc revealed real poverty issues.

But a tour doesnt give you any special insight into how the government works or whatever

No. We went around the major placea in pyongyang minus the empty hotel and the big sports arena, then kaesong i rhink the city name was where they offered us dog soup if we wanted to try (i didnt), and the dmz. So i have seen the dmz from borh sides.

The funny thing people may not experience or know is that while visiting the dmz from the south is very strict (waivers, dont wave, dont point, dont do fucking anything, if you die its your fault, lectures, etc), from the north its totally lax and you can do anything like drink beer, flip off the south side and show them your ass, etc

You are right about the freedom of movement to a degree, the country is divided in regions, people need a specific visa to travel inside the country and the uniform provided by the state has a specific design and color in each region making it easier to identify people out of place.

The funny thing is, the average north korean might be more free compared to the average european during the covid lockdowns.

From what little I've seen, North Koreans are just normal people despite the system of government and the propaganda. Main issue is that Pyongyang's the home of the Loyal North Koreans and they don't let unrehearsed encounters with Wavering or especially Hostile people take place.
