It and Troy were part of a weird movement to try and demythify myths. "This is how it really happened without all that magic, gods, and whatnot". Just comes across as flat and boring. Keira Knightley is a babe though.

I heard Bernard Cornwell has a whole Arthur trilogy that does exactly this. I like going more back to Arthur's roots where Britain is post-Roman and the Britons, Anglo-Saxons, etc. are the factions and wear more authentic armor but also you will have the odd dragon, Merlin actually is magic, etc.

Yes its called the Warlord Trilogy. It's actually well regarded but I disliked it, it shits on everything way too much even in ways that Tennyson didn't, and he also uses it as a giant bitchfit about how he hates Christianity. I do wish we some day got a real post-Roman era King Arthur but with magic and creatures appropriate to the time.

He phoned it in? If nothing else having Clive Owen, Gruffudd, and Knightley headline the movie is something I liked cause they're all a bunch of Welshfags by blood to varying degrees - less of a slap in the face than having King Arthur played by some who looks Anglo-Saxon as all fuck like Charlie Hunnam

Same, also although Arthur gets a terrible wound and has to go to Avalon I wouldn't want the end overly cynical. It would be if we operated on the Victorian era understanding of that period that all the Britons were pushed out physically of what is now England but we know that isn't the case now and stuff like the House of Wessex were founded and headed by Britons, so I'd end it on the note that for the Britons, the writing is on the wall in that the land will become Anglo-Saxon but they don't have to go quietly into the night and can become entwined in this new realm that's now forming

They only really crop up in interviews. Richfags/nepobabies get into the industry and have an advantage, that's natural frankly. It's simply lying after the fact or denying you had an advantage (Maya Hawke did this too). They really would get a lot less flack if they expressed humility by acknowledging how lucky they are but that they will try their best with the opportunities presented to them

>Cassius Dio
>"There are two principal races of the Britons, the Caledonians and the Maeatae, and the names of the others have been merged in these two. The Maeatae live next to the cross-wall which cuts the island in half, and the Caledonians are beyond them. Both tribes inhabit wild and waterless mountains and desolate and swampy plains, and possess neither walls, cities, nor tilled fields, but live on their flocks, wild game, and certain fruits...They dwell in tents, naked and unshod, possess their women in common, and in common rear all the offspring. Their form of rule is democratic for the most part, and they are very fond of plundering; consequently they choose their boldest men as rulers....They can endure hunger and cold and any kind of hardship; for they plunge into the swamps and exist there for many days with only their heads above water, and in the forests they support themselves upon bark and roots, and for all emergencies they prepare a certain kind of food, the eating of a small portion of which, the size of a bean, prevents them from feeling either hunger or thirst" (LXXVII.12.1-4).

Nah the Italians infest the supervisor/front of house manager roles, hostesses, etc. and sometimes the chefs, and they are as annoying as fuck as a rule. The ugly as sin browns and Africans with either a poor grasp of English or accents so thick you struggle to understand them are usually the porters (very occassionally some ugly fat Slav or Balkans guy).

Eh, making drinks is nice. First one I worked at was okay, time at least flew buy. Second one was quiet and boring until it wasn't, and out of three bartenders they rarely had two of us work together at a time so you'd end up getting fucked with a shit ton of guests ordering and little backup. Third one was so dead as far as bars went that I ended up going to the back and helping whoever of my own accord most of the time. If you ever do a bar related thing I'd say go for the nightclubs with cocktail lounges. You will spend most of your time actually mixing drinks and because it's simply a bar/nightclub with no table service, you can make zero effort when it comes to 'customer service'
