Because you're a tourist who watches only the most entry level Hollywood slop of the day, never bothering to expand your horizons.

You stare at your smartphone screen all day and wonder why movies don't look like in the 50s anymore... We're in the digital age now and having things still look analog would be weird.

They don't like nights anymore, so they shoot during the day or green screen then put a night "filter"

idk, but all i see is questions about it and conjecture. according to 4chan, it's somehow related to the jews i guess? and according to people who are casual movie enjoyers, it's because "all of the lighting guys retired".

i haven't seen a more official explanation for it, but it's definitely a thing. movies are incredibly dark these days.

It's a broader phenomenon where movies influence culture and culture influences movies and with how things stand right now (everyone alienated from each other, perpetually online with broken families to boot and sexual confusion on a scale perhaps unprecedented) how do you expect movies to look?
