It's about a guy who kills his wife and then has a schizo episode while waiting to be executed except it's told from the schizo's point of view. The narrative is disjointed and nightmarish because it's happening in the head of someone who's fukcin' crazy, man.

A man self reflects on the act of killing his wife and imagining a reality where he didn't.
the man is his own self interest, his deeper feelings.
which is why when he answers the phone the man answers. he was "always home" in his heart.

It's not as deep as people try to say it is, but it's a wonderful portrayal or man.

This film is sort of like training wheels to help you understand what lynch is getting at with the way he tells the story in mulholland drive.
