I was a sheltered kid in the 90s in a predominantly white town, we had 1 black kid in my class that was super chill and we all used to play together at recess. Based on everything I learned about racism in school, I genuinely didn't understand how anyone could dislike or be afraid of someone "just because their skin is a different color".
