Supposed to be a different path of evolution. It's parasitic, partly inorganic, and goes through multiple forms as it's growing. Space Jockeys wanted to study them since they're interesting. Never bioweapons and certainly not perfect.

They come from nowhere in particular. They're just a ubiquitous and dangerous space pest that are encountered in derelict spaceships, abandoned space stations, or remote moons.
Characters might speculate about them being some kind of mutation, a deliberately created bioweapon, or even a former spacefaring species that regressed and went feral. But nothing beyond speculation. All we know is they have no apparent homeworld, origin, or creators, they're just mysterious 7 foot tall space hornets.

After the engineers fucked off or went extinct, the bio-mechanical cyborg penis machines they used to breed living tools made in their image kept creating life without purpose or direction, until eventually the creatures they created were a crude mockery of their makers. And then for a trillion years or so, all those bio-mechanical inbred abominations kept fighting against each other until the xenomorphs reigned triumphant and the space jockeys came second. Or something along these lines

I like their origin in prometheus in broad strokes, just not the way they were executed.

A species of space worms mutated by Space Jokey bio-weapons that wipes the entire Space Jokey civilization is an absolute kino and plays on the Arete-Hybris-Nemesis theme so well.

Arete (advanced civilization seeding planets with life), Hybris (they create bioweapons to destroy planets they don't like), Nemesis (the Xenomorph).

They just completely fucked it up with the David shit.

Some super harsh planet where they mindlessly kill all other forms of life large enough to be their host. If you did some kind of archeological research there would be this recurring cycle of life being wiped out by xenos, xenos dying out leaving only dormant unhatched eggs, life slowly reemerging or evolving, then life being wiped out again and again and again. That's the entire fossil record, Xenos being this repeated extinction event preventing any kind of evolution or growth beyond a certain point.

Engineers would have landed there and set up some kind or research facility or mining/resource gathering operation been infected and then taken xenos off world.

Space Jockeys aren't albino humans, they are their own lovecraftian type bio mechanical species. They have to fuse their bodies with their technology to make it work.(bio-punk) Everything about them as a species is grotesque(think the video game scorn). Xenomorphs aren't "the ultimate weapon" just a predator lifeform they were working one. They got cocky as they wanted to make it more deadly when they eventually lost control and the research lab where they were created was wiped out. Its ambiguous whether or not space jockeys are extinct or not. It hinted that xenos didn't wipe out them but rather something else did (which makes whatever did much scarier)

Well, if I am suddenly in charge of the lore I never let it get to that point. And definitely not having them get made by a fruity android in a prequel taking place like 15 years before the first movie. It just shows that the OG is good in spite of Scott, not because of him.

Originally an advanced space faring civilization, they eventually learned from investigating the ruins of previous space civs that there is an inevetable point in technological process where you learn about the cosmic horrors that memetically spread by discovering them and that will destroy your species and possibly the whole universe out of sheer evil malice. The only way they can prevent this is by reshaping themselves into highly intelligent quasi-beasts that refuse to develop technology (including having literacy) and adopt a way of life where they kill off other space faring civs before they can advance too far and doom the universe.

They deliberately create nests and traps to lure in ships to infest and spread among civs for the express purpose to exterminate them. They are much more intelligent than a human but are limited to only understanding how to use already built tech, but not how to built it themselves and will destroy any sources of knowledge, like databases or books, to prevent future civs from leaping too far ahead from pilfered knowledge (hence why all ancient civ ruins are full of fractured and cryptic bullshit but never a blueprint).

The space jockey was just an unfortunate victim of a xenomorph trap. The xenos then landed the craft in a route likely to be frequented by space travel, established a huge nest and activated an emergency signal before going dormant. If the alien had succeeded on the nostromo it would have set course for earth and wiped out mankind.

The viewer will never hear about this because all he will ever see of xenos is them wrecking a place and building nests and sometimes inexplicably shredding books or doing a very smart manipulation of technology (like operating a lift or airlock) while suddenly outwitting their prey on a level a beast would never be able to after deliberately pretending to be stupid to create a false sense of security in their victims.

I always liked the idea that they are the perfect bioweapon because when they gestate instead something they learn all its weaknesses and the form it 'evolves' into is specific to those weakness. hence the alien having acid blood, excellent night vision while we have shit night vision, hands and fingers so it can manipulate the same stuff we can like door handles, keypads etc,

and that if it gestated in something else like a shark, the alien would look completely different than the human ones do.

There are two primordial cosmic deities. A male deity personifying life, and a female deity personifying death, who is his mate. Basically yin/yang. All organic life in the universe is the spawn of the "life" god, except for the xenos which are the spawn of the "death goddess". The xenos are essentially "anti life", and their relationship with life is analogous to the relationship between matter and antimatter; they annihilate each other.

>female deity personifying death, who is his mate. Basically yin/yang.
That's the opposite of yin/yang. Softness, motherhood, the darkness within the womb, are all yin. Yin is life bearing.

Doesn't matter. We don't need to know anything else about them other than them being deadly. Trying to answer to a question of where a monster comes from always leads to a disappointment.

>HP Lovecraft deities made it, ignore the ship and Pilot they were just some rando hauling them around
Thatโ€™s way more reductive. The bioweapon angle is more of a Roadside Picnic scenario except instead of ants finding the remains of a picnic itโ€™s a crashed b-21 full of weaponized parasitic wasps. Itโ€™s still incomprehensible to the ants.

>The xenos are essentially "anti life", and their relationship with life is analogous to the relationship between matter and antimatter; they annihilate each other.

Did you rip this from that Alien3 screenplay? That was Bishop's assessment of the Xenos.

It has to be a Gollum montage where an engineer goes underground and slowly turns into an alien.

maybe there were like alien mushrooms on a distant moon in the solar system of the engineers and they explored it and then they breathed that shit in and it then turned into somekind of space aids which spread by sex and they had alot of sex and then it would just evolve into some sort of parasitic virus-esque lifeform that would turn into facehuggers and take on other lifeforms to evolve even further, or something

I like the explanation given in the prequels.
The classic biomechanical xenos are the result of the engineers and subsequently humans truing to reverse engineer alien DNA that they found. The original Deacon xeno that the engineers found remains a mystery.

You watched prequels using you asshole? Aliens were literally made by android in a cave with a bunch of scraps!

All what was left from engineers is retards who run up to see the ship like some tribal cavemen

>"DONT EXPLAIN IT OH LAWDY"
This place is overrun by absolute midwit mongrels that have no fucking clue about horror, mystery, and fiction. No wonder that you also wank all over such a shit nobody writer like Lovecraft.
This "MUH UNKNOWN" cliche only works if you confine that idea in a single primitive film, like the original Alien did, being basically a slasher flick, but with a space monster instead of serial killer.
If you want to make a more complex movie, or multiple films, you can't simply masturbate the same expositionless concept โ€“ it will get stale pretty quick.
Moreover, the Alien is a cultural staple, was dissected and sucked dry through decades already. Why would you even bother nowadays to do something with this franchise if you don't want to explore it, but rather just copy all the existing tropes all over again?

The planet from Alien was their abandoned outpost but all that hinted at it was too expensive to put in the movie.
