I grew up in the most soulless generation for pop culture. 2007-2012 was dark age for comics, movies, music, tv, video games etc.

Video Games: Brown and bloom, Japanese and PC gaming in a creative decline, DLCs, Wii, microtransactions, most games from this era being mediocre or downright shitty

Movies: Endless as fuck remakes/sequels, shitty comedy/parody/Happy Madison movies, horror was in a creative drought, very little creativity in those 5 years

TV: CN starts airing shitty canadian shows like Total Drama, Johnny Test, George of The Jungle, Skunk Fu, Chop Socky Chooks,Sidekick, Scaredy Squirrel, reality tv clogging up every network like MTV, TLC and the History Channel. Horrible seasons of once good shows like LOST, 24 and Heroes and all the shitty Disney Channel/Nickelodeon sitcoms

Music: Shitty rappers/autotuned crap like Soulja Boy, Justin Beiber and One Direction

The less said about comics the better

2013 was a transitional period, but since 2014 all these mediums have drastically gotten better delivering us memorable stuff unlike the 2007-12 era which was a cultural wasteland, I feel jealous for kids growing up today.

What the fuck are you talking about? The period you mentioned was absolute fucking shit, sure, but it's gotten infinitely worse since then. That shit period in the late 2000s looks like paradise compared to the nightmare we've been living through since maybe 2012, or if you're generous, 2014.

Who cares about the corporate shit that was being pumped out when you were growing up? When I was growing up my mom took me to the library and we checked out books together. I read Tolstoy's Death of Ivan Illyich at like 13, around 100 years after it was published.
Caring about what was "current" when you were growing up is nonsensical. Art lives forever, its always relevant. It doesn't matter if people on social media are talking about it or not.

CN was always shit though. American cartoons for kids died in the early 90s, when they cut animation budgets so everything looked flat and angular, and removed shows with masculine heroes.
Sure, the 80s cartoons were just glorified toy commercials, but goddamn they had some amazing themes if you were a boy.
By the late 90s, it was all just faggotry with animal character or shows about faggot kids that looked like they were drawn by an autistic preschooler.

Zoomers killed 4chan. Well, they kinda killed the internet and pop culture in general.
It's not really their fault, but that also mean you can't really consider them people. They're just mindless faggots raised by social media, clickbait and algorithms. They're not sentient.

I haven’t thought about that show in fucking 20 years. You’ve just unlocked secret memories I forgot I had holy shit. This era was rad. You still had reruns of old cartoons in early 2000s. Pokémon was still good. Kids still spent all day playing outside, socializing with other kids. The internet wasn't castrated yet. People used flip phones. House telephones with the answering machines were still a thing. Truly the last great decade to be a kid

I agree for the most part op that era was pretty dookie. However, as a 98 baby I feel like we got a bunch of good stuff for the majority of the 00s and 10s. Plus we also got a ton of great runoff from the 90s as well. So I don't feel a jealousy for kids nowadays like you. Especially when you take into consideration that your average kid is probably just consuming the most slop, schizo, ad-hd riddled garbage on either tiktok or youtube kids rather than any of the good stuff being made today. If anything I feel pity for most kids.

I was born in 1996, I remember cartoon network from 2001-2006 being peak SOVL because all the cartoons from the 90's like dexter/powderpuff girls were still airing with new episodes, Toonami was in its prime, Friday night live, Teen Titans, Billy and Mandy, etc. Then all of sudden they started airing retarded live action shows and trying to become MTV for kids. Gay low effort stoner cartoons like adventure time and flapjack started airing in the late 2000's and things just got real bland.

I dont remember late 90's Cartoon Network but I know for a fact that CN didn't have a fully developed universe and meta alongside Hannah Barbara until the 2000's and that meant something.

No, us born in 1996 aren't zoomers. I remember too much of the early 2000's to relate to zoomers. I remember playing crazy taxi in arcades, Watching Halloween town on Disney every Halloween, etc. It was all so soulful. I weep for the early 2000's. Zoomer nostalgia fagging is like simping for the wii and adventure time. Millenial nostalgia fagging is malcolm in the middle and kingdom hearts 1
