Yeah, Shipka can’t act. She reads lines, but there’s no life in her character. That’s unfortunately common for child actors. She got her break when the criteria was to look cute, hit her mark, and say her lines loudly and clearly. Unfortunately now she’s at an age where most of her peers actually have acting chops and had to beat out hundreds of other auditioners to get their roles so the chasm of skill between her and actual actors becomes painfully noticeable.
