See this is the issue, the reason it fell off so bad is it turned into a comic book show when it should have just been a sci fi comedy forever with running bits and gags. Shows that start off as comedies and then switch to having a more serious tone and an overarching plot line always doom themselves.

Adult Swim ordered 12 seasons. Bet they regret that now.

Even the first seasons were riddled with cringe. The ad-lib episodes. The constant 4th wall breaking. The singing. The catchphrase. For every funny bit, there was an utterly embarrassing one. People here rightfully shat on it on the regular.
Granted, those are not the reason the show failed after two seasons, but you're still wrong.

I still stand by the idea that when they fired Roiland they should have had different guest stars voice Rick and Morty each episode and play into the whole alternate dimension thing. They already proved this works with Bushworld Adventures. Each episode could have been its own different style. I guess the current writing staff wouldn't have been capable of that so they had to go back to churning out the same lazy shit.
