>>212406724 (OP)I'll fix your problem for free RIGHT NOW. In fact, just archive the thread after this post. Here's your answer:
Adding pre-shows shorts.

>>212407457>People will actually have an incentive to get thede earlyyou seem to be out of the loop with whats going on and why people are mad. places like AMC are playing add (30min of them) at START time of the movie. no one has a problem with playing adds before the movie is slated to start. honestly they should be sued for false advertising if they dont play the movie at the time you ticket says.
>>212408334Yeah and I think that could work, if you have shorts and such to go with the ads. It turns it from 25 minute ad hellscape mixed with 5 minutes of trivia no one plays until 20 minute ads in between 10 minutes of shorts.
There weren't that many complaints about ads when the movies were really good. Imagine paying to sit though 30 minutes of ads and then watching the Thunderbolts. It's like pouring salt in the wound.
>>212407457This idea is dangerously innovative, you can't give that kind of space to smaller producers and directors, think of the consequences if their original ideas are enjoyed by people.

>>212408425no it wouldnt. its fucking insane that the ads are starting at movie start time and not just filling time before. the entire concept of a cinema is that it plays a certain movie at a certain time. its the worst thing cinemas could be fucking around with
from what i see, the thing that works is when they just play good old movies. they charge a premium and sell out seats
the problem is clearly that no one wants to pay $30 to watch niggers and trannies talk about how much they hate trump and white people
modern movies fucking SUCK and they need to make good movies instead. crazy i know

I just show up 20 minutes late to every movie after picking the seats I want online. They literally cannot make me watch previews.
I used to like watching previews but today's previews just spoil the entire movie and I came to watch a movie, not half an hour of trailers. It's simply too much.
>>212408776im at the point where i literally just dont want to look at a nigger at all. in any capacity. not in a "as long as it makes sense" way or anything. i dont want to pay money and have my eyes have to focus on a nigger face for any reason. i dont want those white urban gangs replaced with niggers because thats reality, keep them white. i want zero (0) niggers. i want aitroons to run every movie and show in existence through a no nigger box and remove them from history
Hire a pre-show hype man. You're welcome, AMC.
>>212408480That's because the ads played before the LISTED SHOWTIME zoomie. The LISTED SHOWTIME used to be the time the movie started or the time previews started. But now it's

I don't pay to watch ads. If there are ads, it better be free. Way to make theaters even more irrelevant.
>>212406724 (OP)The actual plan to save theaters would have been for the theaters to get together and refuse to show low quality woke trash made by hacks ten years ago back when they still had authority. This would have put at least some institutional pressure on the studios to protect the integrity of the system on their end. Comic shops should have done the same.

>>212411618Most theatres are contractually obligated to screen movies and to have so many screenings per day. When Endgame came out, we had to change our school day hours to accodomate for the contractually obligated screenings. We started opening in the morning, ON SCHOOL DAYS, to screen 10:30am or 11am screenings of Endgame that no one showed up to (people didn't start showing up until after 4pm on a school day, shocker!, so all those screenings were also empty). And then we were contractually forced to have screenings up until 11:30pm of Endgame, again on SCHOOL NIGHTS. It was extremely retarded and a waste of employee hours. This is how retarded movie studios are, and this was before COVID.
>>212407061I would fucking gladly shell out a little more for a movie that starts on the posted time and isn’t preceded by THIRTY MOTHERFUCKING MINUTES of commercials.

>>212412002Yeah but I'm saying film development shops everyone thought they would end but they had an uptick and came back as hipster throwback/enthusiast options. There's one in every town, a few in every big city. That's how I see movie theaters surviving on, but only if they have a mix of reel projectors and imax imo. Keep distribution costs way down for studios by lowering the amount of locations, keep margins higher, make them more amenable to mixed use like Alamo Drafthouse where they can house comedy or music too. That could stay alive. Three in every town and fifty in every city? That's gotta die fast.
>>212411618Only way to survive is to start showing mostly old films. You could even plan certain films for certain seasons. Leading up to and throughout October show horror classics, Ghostbusters, etc. I'd take my kids to see classics on the big screen that I know are good if they offered them.

> the top three chains also air National CineMedia‘s Noovie Show, before every posted showtime. Hosted by Emmy winner Maria Menounos, the pre-show, which clocks in just under ten minutes, is a combo of movie trivia, non-industry and local market commercials, the occasional movie trailer, but overall it’s a lot of noise and fluff. So, if you arrive really early to a movie theater, you could be bombarded with the Noovie Show, plus the additional 20-minutes-plus of trailers and non-industry commercials which air after the movie’s posted showtime. Some chains are weighing in with a pre-show that’s as long as 30 minutes.
Alternatively, you could just watch the movie at home for free. Hmmmm.... which to choose.
>>212406724 (OP)but i like watching the trailers

>>212406976Didn't audiences always do that? Why are the theaters having a conniption?
> One studio recently measured the attendance during a pre-show for Sony’s 28 Years Later at a Chicago AMC theater and found that during a 30-minute pre-show (after the movie’s listed showtime), only 20% of the audience were in their seats at the start of showtime to watch trailers. By the 12-minute mark after the listed showtime, 70% of the audience were in their seats. The auditorium didn’t reach full capacity until a minute before the movie actually started.
With reserved seats, why sit thru ad torture when just can show up at the last minute? Water flows around rocks.
>>212406724 (OP)I don't watch trailers because they usually reveal too much. In 2-3 minutes you have seen almost the whole movie. At the most I watch short teaser trailers that are like 30 seconds.

>>212406724 (OP)Here’s what a movie theatre experience should be. If the movie says it starts at 7:20, then the trailers should start playing at that time, and there should be NO MORE than 3 trailers. Period. End of discussion. Zippo. Debate over. And then the movie starts. Commercials should be playing PRIOR to the 7:20 run time.
