I mean there are a number of movies that have endings where it gets dark randomly but I wouldn't really say that's a defining aspect of this film

The Graduate is an obvious comparison though with an ending that's thematically almost identical to The Swimmer and in general has similar vibes the whole time.

This movie Nowhere has similarly weird shit but it goes farther into the strangeness. Or maybe Repo Man
