First time watching her in a film (Some Like It Hot). Cute face and big tits but did she really deserve to be a sex icon? Or were standards a little low back then?
>>212418039 (OP) She was a ditzy Barbie doll. And that made fat middle aged mens peckers hard. And because fat middle aged perverts fantasized about cooming all over her face, now feminists see her as this empowered icon of sexuality.

>>212418039 (OP) Women were dogs back in the 50s, so yeah she was a sex icon in comparison.

Her thing was that she was willing to whore herself out in a time period where women were much more cautious about things like that. These days every other chick sells pictures of her butthole on the internet but back then the willingness to appear completely naked in a magazine gave her a huge leg up on other women.
Being a sex icon was a specialized hollywood role back then often symbolized by the bleached hair and playful outspoken personality like May West or Jean Harlow. Respectable women were not supposed to have either of those things and they were not sexual except with their husbands. She was talented as evidenced by movies like Gentlemen prefer blondes wheres she proves she can dance, sing and do comedy.

>>212418039 (OP) Yes, standards were lower in terms of looks. But also women were respectable then, so the relatively tame whorishness she exhibited by today's sensibilities was wild to them, and drove them sex-mad. Like how you immediately like a girl 25% more if you get a sense that it's likely she'll fuck you, even if she's just alright to look at.
I think she was funny, too, but I've never seen evidence she could act for shit.
>>212418039 (OP) >(Some Like It Hot) The dialogue got me rolling in this film. Monroe was the perfect casting, Lemon got to showcase his great comedic talent and Curtis grew a lot in my eyes now that I've watched plenty of his films.
