Nope the script was just bad. Boyle could have made a spiritual journey about a son coming to terms with his mother's death while learning that life goes on. He could have made a depiction of society regressing to medieval times and living with zombies. I just rewatched 28 Days Later this evening for the first time in over 10 years and I am taken aback by just how far Boyle has fallen as a director. Years is such a piece of shit in comparison, it is like he took the first film and cranked the themes about love and death up to sickeningly saccharine levels, it feels like in insult, it is distasteful for this movie to even be remotely associated with the first one. He should have just made a seperate Last of Us ripoff instead of ruining the good name of what is his second best film overall and far and away the best film in its genre ever made. Years fucking sucks, I will not watch the sequel, Boyle should kill himself.

Zombies played almost no role in the flick. They were just a minor inconvenience.
