You see it in the legal field especially with attorneys recommending other attorneys who then bring in consultants who used to be attorneys and who recommend appraisers who also recommend contractors and you end up with this traveling circus of people on a payroll to do a job that should require 1/10th if the people and 1/100th of the cost.

John Taffer was hired to oversee the construction of a restaurant near the restaurant I work at. Crappy location, bad business model, much too pricey for the region. After the owner went broke, it just kinda started treading water with come-and-go management. I've seen many restaurants come and go over the years. The trick is to know your customer base, keep regular hours, and serve the shit they like. Ultimately, there's nothing easy about restaurants.
