I think that was 2023, when he did a cameo at the end of a Cinema Snob video (and thus technically produced more scripted content). Unless he's done something since without me realising? Admittedly I tuned out for quite a while.

I'll stand by my prediction that he almost certainly will produce more scripted stuff (that cameo doesn't really count) at some point, though it's looking increasingly optimistic.

Well, endlessly obsessing over anything is unhealthy. The thing about Spoony is, he was the best (or at least one of the best), in the golden age of YouTube - and a better time generally - and he *could* pick up where he left off at any moment. If he'd definitively ruled out doing any more reviews or vanished from the internet or died, that would be one thing. Instead the guy still regularly does (boring) streams and was teasing as recently as two years ago (dunno if he's mentioned it since) that he intended to do a new film review. So I'll check in on his (in)activity occasionally. Motherfucker refuses to give us closure, and it's only human to want closure.

The three new seasons that Joel was in charge of are terrible, and apparently most people agree with that, because the fundraiser for a season 14 failed a couple of years ago, and to my knowledge they haven’t tried again.

For me, the spirit of OG MST3K went with Mike, Kevin and Bill to Rifftrax. The best of that is damn near up there with OG MST3K, though they are starting to get up there in years. I was watching a video they did a few months ago of the guys playing mini golf as as bonus video for supporters, as Mike was doing the “grandpa shuffle” as he walked around. Supposedly he was recovering from a surgery, but it was a little distressing to see nonetheless.
