ITT: 90s action slop
Movies that were deemed retarded and uninspired then, but are filled with soul and fun by modern standards
90s cranked out a lot of action slop. Im guessing the b-tier movies are more appreciated today because of the practical effects and more black and white good vs. evil.
>>212443342 (OP)I've always liked Assassins. It use to get a lot of broadcast TV play on the weekends, in the years after its release
>>212443399Yes, Assassins is kino. Something interested happened in my country. America made great kinos in the past, but they here deemed as flops, so the national television channels bought those kinos and showed to us here. We had great joy because of that.
>>212443361Not slop and there's a remake being made btw
>>212444764I'll watch it for her, Robin Tunney. Dat mouf beggin for dick
>>212443342 (OP)Stories of heroic action have always been looked down on as low brow, but they are the only stories that are remembered and that are truly popular.
tom cruise saw this movie and realized he had to lock this nigga down forever
>>212446433The most underrated movie ever. Didnโt get a US release so it usually goes under the radar.

This has a reputation for being one of the worst films ever made. The screenplay is certainly terrible, but the production design and cinematography are extremely soulful and at times pretty good. Just look at that knockoff Blade Runner opening right at the start.
this has like 66% approval on rt and mogs anything made the last two decades
>>212449321Samuel L Jackson says this is his favourite role he's played.
nobody has seen this movie
>>212446557I only remember the opening of this one, but it is a fucking great opening!

>>212443342 (OP)Accidentally rewatched this a few months ago. Got about a third of the way through it before shit started looking familiar. This has happened several times to me lately all with movies from the same era.
>>212446557how many times was Tay "zesty" diggs cast as the number 2 man only to get rekt by the main character with no effort?
>>212443388> more black and white good vs. evil. Our villians must be tragic and misunderstood anti heroes! It sophisticated and deep!
>>212443399It was a yearly prime time showing on canal 5. Along with Leon and operation condor.
>>212446557The trailer with the violent femmes playing was a constant since I rewatched some vhs. Some other trailers were the limey and sexy beast
It wasn't till I got internet that I watched them.
>>212449813Shenanฬnigans, I saw it on HBO. Lithgow is looking at himself in the mirror and says one of the most vile retorts to a guard.
>>212449321>That's a duck, not a dick!MK-Ultra/Sleeper Cell kino.
>>212443342 (OP)Those movies were genuinely enjoyed then, just like people took 30 years before getting tired of generic westerns before that. Very few people watched them "ironically".
>>212443342 (OP)this movie gave me a computer fetish
Last Action Hero.
Loved it as a kid and was a bit sad to find out later that it bombed.
>>212452402well it was written by the wachowskis
>>212444688>Not slopCritics always talked it down.
>there's a remake being made btwThe original had some shitty studio sets but at least crap like that had some soul. I bet the whole remake will be some green screen nightmare.
>>212451897I can think of equilibrium only.
>>212443342 (OP)lmao why did they frame Moore in such a goofy way
>>212449321They filmed this near me. It was a big deal. The scene ended up being a few seconds in the final cut.
Really opened my eyes to how overblown Hollywood productions are.
>>212449813Did. Lithgow is the man. Should do a thread on him. We donโt have to wait for him to die.
>>212448655I can't get over how straight his face is on the poster.
