I dunno about all that but as far as RLM goes they just aren't that into Star Wars since they are a bunch of old trekkies. Trekkies often tended to look down on Star Wars fans back in the day and RLM never dropped that habit. And since they are so uninitiated, the prequels just looks like Flash Gordan went off the rails rather than Lucas further developing the setting that the fans have been obsessively analyzing for years.

Whereas Lucas believes that the Jedi are never lonely - they live on compassion, and they love everyone equally, and people love them back.

Warp travel is literally the only requirement for entry into the federation.

The logic is once you can fling something faster than light across the galaxy, you can also fling that into a planet and destroy it. So if there is incentive to do so, it will happen. Thus there needs to be an interstellar alliance based upon sharing technology to ensure no one has any real incentive to go to war over resources, which are all functionally limitless once space travel is solved.
