2017-18 was a really interesting time in hindsight. a bunch of popular people, including fucking pewdiepie, came out as conservatives and I think there was a sense that that "side" was winning the culture war, but then there was a huge backlash the left had total cultural dominance basically until trump got shot. I remember back in like 2014/15 thinking "wow these sjws sure are wacky I can't wait until this trend burns out in a couple years and everything goes back to normal" that was only 10 years ago but it feels like 20.
