Okay, I am starting to buy the theory that the M3gan movies each take place in side of a virtual simulation. And you know what? I don't think it's cheap at all. I think they did the set up and the then they do the pay off for the people who want to interpret the text and the people who want to look. And you know what? I think the movies are fun with both readings and if they get the chance to complete the story they're making and pull the big AI VR concept reveal with M3gan 3.0 I'll be there buying a ticket.

Megan 1 sold well on a basic horror premise lightly peppered with some funny memes, so for the sequel they decided that the story didn't matter, they could simply put even more memes in it and the whole thing would sell on brand recognition alone, so they yassified it to hell and back.
The big problem was the genre they pivoted to, horror is pretty universal but action is specifically aimed at straight men, so unless the main character is hot or the movie itself has a pretty unique concept, a female-led action movie will usually fail, even worse when the marketing is focusing on faggoty shit like Britney Spears music and obese crossdressers who say shit like "slay kween!" unironically.
