The ire against movies with slightly more bloat is one of the saddest bandwagons of all time. When people started shitting on JP3/SM3 and praising shit like Star Trek 2009, we doomed ourselves. Not to be too mean, but RLM leaned hard into wanting the soft reboot directors like JJ to take over the biggest franchises. Now look where we are. SW fucked, JP Fucked, Star Trek fucked, Terminator fucked, Predator fucked, ghostbusters fucked, X-Men fucked, Pirates of the Caribbean fucked, Indiana Jones fucked. Billions upon billions of dollar franchises ruined beyond repair.

JP3 was only good for how it depicted the raptors. It fleshed them out more by giving them an actual pack mentality and showing that they weren't just savage violent monsters like the other two movies before them depicted them. Their entire goal in the movie was them trying to get back their stolen eggs, which proved they were even good parents. Their designs were also unique and memorable.
Every other dinosaur got a fucking downgrade though. The spinosaurus is nothing more than a fucking b-movie tier monster, the r-rex is a pussy, and the pteranodons are just violent creatures. Only the herbivores came out unscathed since they were barely shown at all.
JP3's terrible script doesn't help it either, and even bringing back Dr.Grant and Ellie did way more harm than good.
Still slightly better than the Jurassic World movies though.

In isolation, JP3 is bad when compared with JP1, same with the prequels vs OT, SP3 vs SP2, AvP vs Alien and Predator. Ect ect. The distinction I would make between those movies vs the installments of the last decade is that you can tell the creators tried. Everything produced now feeeels like it’s slop made by corpo executives. Down to the crappy cgi, camera angles, dialog, and actor direction. Spider-Man 3 at least has a very distinct style than is memorable even to me now. Verses something like ghostbusters afterlife where my brain doesn’t recall a single scene or line of dialogue.

Lots of good dino action, though. Except when they make the raptors job for no reason other than plot armor.
The San Diego ending is tacked on, on top of the film being pretty bloated as it is and nonsensical in some places.
Worth checking out if you're a fan of Jurassic Park though, it and 3 still very much retain that Jurassic feel, way more than the World turds. The score is very good, too and does a lot of the lifting.

TLW has some discussion on T-Rex parenting with the baby rex.
JP3 has some focus on raptor social behavior with Grant's raptor chamber whistle thing.
JW has the whole "these dinosaurs will look very different if they were pure" speech by Wu.
All of these scenes just last like 5 minutes at most though.
The rest of them just include clone shit with the clone girl though. The only other memorable thing from Fallen Kingdom was the Indoraptor and how it's the only male engineered dino, but it's barely mentioned in the actual movie.
