The retard wrecked Bismarck's carefully planned out system of alliances that was preserving the German nation because he wanted to be a big boy monarch like his cousins with big fleets and big empires. Granted, even a non-retard probably wouldn't have been able to prevent it, but he went at the Jenga Tower of Europe with a sledgehammer.

Wilhelm did promise to back them up, but he also tried to dissuade them from trying to conquer all of Serbia and wanted them to simply subjugate Sarajevo instead. The Austrians told him no. Wilhelm also tried limiting the war by negotiating until the very last second, it was only when it was clear that full scale war was going to break out that he decided to lean into it.

Yeah, that was the point you mouth-breathing retard. If the Austrians had been content to simply police Sarajevo and declare victory to the world then WWI could have been avoided. That was what Wilhelm wanted. Instead they were so pissed that they wanted all of Serbia crushed. Meanwhile the French and Russians were encouraging this behavior because they wanted war for their own reasons. People only think Germany started the war because they were much stronger than AH, and so the propaganda naturally pointed towards them as the main villain.

They weren't, and Germany backed up their delusions.
>That was what Wilhelm wanted
clearly not, his generals were also gassing him up about the necessity of war with russia NOW rather than later, because it was industrializing fast (overestimating russia seems to be an eternal thing)
>Meanwhile the French and Russians were encouraging this behavior because they wanted war for their own reasons.
They really weren't, but they were counting on an austrian chimpout. Serbia was ready to grovel but Austria went even beyond retardation with their demands.
>Germany started the war because they were much stronger than AH
Because their strength and assurances and encouragement led to Austria attacking.

>just world the aristocrats in charge would've been guillotined
They were guillotined by bullets and artillery. Multiple monarchies fell because of the war. Officers usually have a higher casualty rate than enlisted men and this was especially true in an age where you had men who were pretty highly ranked participating in ground combat.
>In 1995, British military historians Frank Davis and Graham Maddocks compiled, in the book Bloody Red Tabs, a list of 78 general officers that they considered to have been killed as a result of active service
If you go and look at the biographies of a lot of these generals they were explicitly warned about the dangers of frequent front line visits but did it anyway.

This, the moral of that movie was "war le bad no matter who fights."
Also there is a French series called Le Combattantes in which again there is no good and bad side, and there is an incredibly touching moment involving German soldiers. That show is kino, but it is focused on women so chuds won't like it.

The UK was run by the Parliament, like today the Royals were just symbols, basically celebrities.
The German Empire was divided on one side by the monarchy with the aristocrats and industrialists and on the other side with the various political parties. Only Russia was ruled by a monarch with absolute power which made the bourgeoisie mad, the conditions in which the masses lived made the socialists also angry.

anons literally two thirds of Europe's royal families were/are German, and the rest were/are French.
royals had this rule that princes can only marry princesses. but by the 19th century there wasn't many kingdoms left in Europe because they had already absorbed all of their neighbours, except in Germany.
so Germans managed to marry their princesses off everywhere, raising their children as Germans. next time there's a dynasty change the German heiress marries her German cousin, and boom, your first-rank country is now ran by a low-rank German family who just happened to be the "royals" of some bumfuck dump in Saxony. of course they continue to marry each other from this point.
this happened in England, Russia, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Portugal etc.

Pretty much

>peak monarchy/empire era
>nationalism at all time highs
>masculinity at all time highs
>massive mega bloody war for nothing
>monarchies and empires collapse
>women get the right to vote universally and feminize everything
>nationalism collapses, the white race collapses, republicanism and socialism wins

socialism already existed long before WW1. your "peak" era actually created the conditions for it to appear, along with many other non-socialist revolutions in countries not involved in the war.

Why post this? Of course I know it existed. I said it won after and thanks to WW1. People became disillusioned with monarchs and emperors and immediately started cum guzzling socialists. The addition of women as a major, if not the definitive voting bloc, accelerated this, as they are naturally socialist of mind.

>nationalism at all time highs
>war for nothing
the war was precisely caused by nationalism since not all nations had their own state and many empires were artificial and thus unstable to begin with. but you're probably yet another American who confuses ideology with nationalism.

Germany started the war. Austria never would have invaded Serbia without Germany backing such an action and it was known that provoking Russia like that risked a general war.

Is that why Germany referred to the alliance as being "shackled to a corpse" ?

the 1900-1914 period was already full of revolutions and social unrest because the massive revenues of industrialisation were not evenly distributed and (((bankers))) had already started to rig the game and create artificial poverty.

To be fair, Germany didn't expect Austria to be retarded enough to declare war before they were ready.

Germany pressured Austria to attack quickly as they wanted to preempt the Russians. They had wanted to do the same thing 2 years ago during the Balkan wars

Germany gave Austria the so called "Blankoscheck" aka they assured them complete military support. Austria was nowhere near completely prepared but still declared war on Serbia because they knew Germany would back them up.
Even Germany was surprised at their course of action.
Also, to be completely fair neither side during WW1 wanted peace anyway.

They completely expected it because Austria showed them their ultimatum to Serbia weeks before presenting it. The Kaiser was disappointed that it would be presented to the Serbs with such a delay. as far as immediate escalation is concerned, its all on the Germans

As the previous anon says, everyone was looking for a fight (which was the style at the time) but no one was expecting a gigantic super war that destroys nations.
