Also a lot of people are mentioning Dog Soldiers. I saw it when it first came out and it was one of the few films where I was stunned by how bad it was. Nothing to do with the concept, cast or even the script really, just the awful direction. It was like someone trying to imitate Michael Bay in their backyard while having a seizure.

Yeah. I remember my initial reaction being confused. I hated it because of the sloppy direction and frenetic action, but a lot of the usual complaints of what makes a movie bad didn't apply - it had a strong cast, all competent performances, the actual gore/creature FX were great. I think in a way that annoyed me more - like watching someone waste a good meal, as opposed to SyFy trash where it was always just going to be breas baked beans on toast.
