This was pretty much what I was afraid of. I understood that Gunn needed to go in a very different direction with the character, because Snyder kind of poisoned the well in taking these characters seriously because he took them WAAAY too fucking seriously. But you still got to have some semblance of verisimilitude. And it just feels like James Gunn made what feels like a Superman parody movie more than he actually made a Superman movie.

I'm sure it will still be entertaining, but it'll probably run into the same problem as Spider-Man No Way Home insofar as it will feel really off. You won't feel like you're watching a movie, but instead feel like you're watching a big budget comedy sketch or something with plenty of sitcom winking moments that rip you out of immersion.
