why are people upset about AMC adding more commercials? You're literally getting more to watch.

If enough people do that they'll add another 20 minutes
We have some very greedy and short sighted people running cinemas

this. I've just started showing up late to movies at this point so I don't shovel all the popcorn into my fat mouth before the previews finish

Cinemark already plays too many ads before the trailers and often they'll play one of them twice.

It's just so they can charge extra for an ad-free ticket screening.

everything since the advent of the mute button has been that being able to avoid commercials/advertising is a massive selling point for any product.

They aren't adding more commercials, the app just started warning people how long the movie actually does start after the posted showtime. It's been 25-30 for years. I think people were complaining that their schedules were thrown off because they thought they'd get out of a theater a lot earlier than they actually did. The dumb part is they could cut like two minutes if they removed the commercials that are for AMC THEMSELVES, the people are already in your theater, why do you need to keep promoting yourself?

It's in the top three reasons I stopped going to cinemas. When I used to go as a kid it was 2 or 3 short commercials, often for the chain itself, and 2 or 3 trailers (which were new and unseen). Now it's (legitimately) 45 minutes of television commercials, maybe a few local one's and 1 or 2 old youtube trailers. It's such a fucking rip off.
