Thats not what im talking about, its the fact this is a character-centered story which just re-tells a characters past.
Young Beth was a psycho? Yes we know, that was established with the much more creative play-time dimension episode.
Beth has abandonment issues? Yes this was established in Season 1!
Rick feels bad about leaving her and they re-connect? Yes we got that in the aforementioned Episode as well!
And then they try to go for some bittersweet ending with music. Its downright offensive how absurdly clumsy this writing is at attempting to get emotions out of the viewer with a story that has been done before. Its like if Futurama did another episode about Frys Brother ending with Simply Red playing over the credits.

Dude you don't even know. I've unfortunately in my boredom watched some reactions to this show. Normalfags eat the emotional moments like fucking crack. The COMMENTS on certain clips? "Ohhh, Morty is learning to be like Rick xD" ad infinitum. Adventure Time is unironically the better show in terms of character development and story, but both pale in the end compared to novels, which, if you care about story, you should be consuming anyway instead of TV.

It was the synthesis of Roiland and Harmon that pushed the show past anybody's expectations. The series' popularity peaked with the season finale of season 2, and the premiere of season 3. It NEVER got that close again, because Roiland and Harmon were firing on all cylinders. Then Roiland was off doing another show on the side and stopped writing so much, Harmon brought in some writers, and while the show puts out something good once in a while like the hole episode or the suicide spaghetti one, it'll never be what it used to.
